The Ministry of Health reported 2,068 new cases of Covid-19 at noon today.
Almost 60 percent of the cases occurred in the Klang Valley.
About 45 percent of the cases in Selangor were from “other evaluations.”
Main indicators:
- Active cases: 23,433 ↓ (165 less than the previous day, sixth consecutive day of new registrations)
- ICU patients: 126 ↓ (Five less than the previous day, record)
- Intubated patients: 54 ↓ (TSix less than the previous day)
- Deaths: 3
The deaths bring the national death toll to 474.
All the deceased were Malaysians from the peninsula. Its details are as follows:
Patient 87,659: Malaysian male, 69, died at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital, Seremban. He had a history of diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, and dyslipidemia.
Patient 98,014: 94-year-old Malaysian male died at Sungai Buloh Hospital. He had a history of diabetes, hypertension, dementia, and bronchiectasis.
Patient 112,093: A 58-year-old Malaysian woman died at Sungai Buloh Hospital. He had a history of diabetes, hypertension, heart and kidney disease.

According to figures from the Selangor Health Department, 290 of the 351 “other exams” were from non-group workplace examinations.
Five cases were also detected through pre-employment examinations and another five cases through surveillance of health workers.
Meanwhile, 53 cases were people who had requested the test after developing symptoms and another three tested positive after developing a severe acute respiratory infection.
There were three people who tested positive before admission to the hospital, one through pre-surgery evaluation and two post-mortem evaluations.
One case was also detected by pre-flight control.

Meanwhile, the director general of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, said in a statement that there were three new groups.
The Rawa Akasia group in Timur Laut, Barat Daya, Seberang Perang Tengah and Selatan in Penang have 117 cases to date. The index case tested positive on Dec. 24 through screening tests for those with symptoms.
The Jalan Perindustrian group in Kulai, Johor has 20 positive cases to date. The index case tested positive on December 28 through a workplace test.
The Rantau Semarak group in Maran, Pahang and Gombak, Selangor has 18 positive cases so far. The index case tested positive on Dec. 28 through screening tests for those with symptoms.
