On December 24, KBS honored the variety and show stars who lit up the network and led viewers to laugh over the past year.
At the 2020 KBS Entertainment Awards, the network’s annual celebration of its greatest achievements in variety programming and entertainment, comedian Kim Sook took home this year’s Daesang (Grand Prize).
Kim Sook, who became the second woman in KBS history to win the Daesang (Kim Young Ja was the first in 2018), wept on stage when she accepted her award.
“Many, many thanks to KBS for giving me such a great award,” said Kim Sook visibly moved. “Actually, when I was on stage before, I thought to myself that this is where I received my first award exactly 25 years ago, when I became a [comedian at KBS]. So I am very grateful to receive this great award here 25 years later.
“Honestly, I thought to myself beforehand that because KBS has provided me with so many incredible opportunities and because I am a part of so many programs [here at the network], I had already received many things and experiences that are even more valuable than a Daesang, ”he continued humbly.
Kim Sook continued to reveal with a smile, “Actually, I didn’t tell my family about this, because I was scared that I would have to go home empty-handed.”
After thanking her family members and many colleagues, the comedian concluded: “I would like to share this honor with healthcare workers, small business owners and many others who are currently struggling due to the COVID-pandemic. 19. I will try to create varied programs that can make people smile, even a little bit. Thank you so much everyone.”

Better teamwork: “Entertainment Weekly Live”
Best challenge: “Zombie Detective”
Best entertainer in show and variety: Hong Kyung Min (“Superman’s Return”, “National Trot Festival”), Yeon Jung Hoon (“2 days and 1 night”), Oh My Girl’s Seunghee (“Neither football nor baseball”)
Best reality entertainer: Yang Chi Seung (“Boss in the mirror”), Oh Yoon Ah, Ryu Soo Young (“Fun-staurant”)
