Both groups were caused by those who had traveled to Sabah.

PUTRAJAYA: Two new Covid-19 clusters have been detected in Selangor, the Seri Setia and Seri Anggerik clusters.

The Seri Setia group in Gombak was detected in the border area with Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, and the first case involved a 36-year-old Malaysian man who returned from Semporna, Sabah.

Meanwhile, the Seri Anggerik group on Hulu Selangor involved a 37-year-old Malaysian man who also traveled to Sabah.

Seri Setia’s group detected three more positive cases after close contact examinations in the first patient, all of whom were Malaysians.

Chief Health Officer Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 23 people have been screened for this group so far.

The Seri Anggerik group’s screening tests detected another 14 Covid-19 positive patients, all of them Malaysians.

So far, a total of 67 people have been tested for this group, and 38 people are still awaiting their test results.

The original source of infection for both groups is still being investigated, Noor Hisham said.

New Selangor are returnees from Sabah

He said Selangor detected 31 new cases, nearly half of which had a history of travel to Sabah.

“Thirteen cases examined were returnees from high-risk areas in Sabah. Eight cases are from the new cluster which is the Seri Anggerik cluster. Three cases are from the Jalan Meru cluster. “

He added that one more case was from the recently identified Seri Setia group in Gombak. Close contact screening tests detected three other infected people in this group.

129 cases in the Kedah Wall group

Noor Hisham said that most of the 129 cases in Kedah were from the newly identified Tembok group, with 128 infections. Another case was detected from a close contact examination with a positive patient.

Fifty-two of the 113 cases in Sabah, he said, were detected through official health examinations.

Another 35 were from the Benteng LD group and 15 from the Bangau-Bangau group. The Laut and Pulau groups also registered one new case each.

“Implementation of the Targeted Movement Control (TEMCO) order, the statewide interdistrict travel ban is expected to begin at 12:01 am from October 3 through October 16, and all other monitoring activities in the field will help contain and decrease the number of cases in Sabah. “

Noor Hisham also said that Perak and Terengganu each recorded three cases today, while Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan detected two each.

Johor, Pahang, Kuala Lumpur and Labuan each reported a new case of Covid-19.
