KUALA LUMPUR: Yesterday, two men were arrested after leading police in a high-speed chase near here.
Gombak District Police Chief Arifai Tarawe said police officers on patrol saw the two suspects, aged 28 and 31, behaving suspiciously in a car in Jalan Besar Selayang at 9 p.m.
He said police later ordered the driver of the vehicle to stop for an inspection, but instead the car sped off, prompting the patrol to chase him.
“The police chased him until the vehicle reached Rawang before changing direction and heading towards Kota Damansara. At a traffic light, the car collided with a motorcycle and the vehicle stopped, eventually leading to the arrest of the suspects, ”he said in a statement today.
Arifai said an inspection of the car found 95 packs of cigarettes and a clear plastic pack containing drugs believed to be methamphetamine. “The police also found a pill believed to be erimin 5 in the wallet of one of the suspects,” he said, adding that the suspects have been detained for 10 days.
