169 arrested for violating SOP

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 169 offenders for disobeying various standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) yesterday.

Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said today that all the offenders got worse.

Of this number, 81 did not provide customers with the log books or QR code to check in, 35 people did not wear face masks, 13 people disobeyed the SOP involved in gathering activities without social distancing, 20 participated in club activities nightlife or pub and the remaining nine had violated several SOPs, “he said.

As of yesterday, he said that police had checked a total of 48,111 locations to make sure they were following the SOP. These included 4,878 restaurants, 3,492 supermarkets and 1,317 factories.

Apart from that, a total of 49 illegal immigrants were arrested yesterday during operations against illegal immigration and seven land transports were seized.

As for returnees, he said that a total of 90,800 people had returned to the country between July 24 and December 23.

To date, 69 people have been sent to the hospital after testing positive, while 7,282 are going through the mandatory 14-day quarantine period at designated centers.

A total of 82,983 people were allowed to go home after undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Ismail Sabri Yaakob also said that between April and December 23, a total of 14,074 inspections were carried out at 8,024 construction sites across the country.
