1,683 new cases, 280 doctors in treatment

COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 1,683 new cases of Covid-19 and no new deaths today.

Today is the first time that no new deaths have been reported since December 4. The cumulative national death toll from Covid-19 is 432.

However, the Health Ministry revealed that 280 members of the medical staff are being treated for Covid-19 while 1,697 have received home surveillance orders.

Main indicators:

  • Active cases: 15,140 ↑ (475 more than the previous day, new record)
  • ICU patients: 106 (unchanged)
  • Intubated patients: 51 ↓ (two less than the previous day)
  • Deaths: 0

The Klang Valley reported the highest number of cases (53.2 percent) followed by Sabah (15.4 percent) and Negeri Sembilan (10.3 percent).

Of the 692 new cases in Selangor, half were detected through “other screening tests,” a general term for workplace, preoperative, pre-departure and health worker screening tests, among others.

According to the Selangor Health Department, 34 new cases were detected by screening those who reported symptoms, 292 were detected by a specific screening in the workplace and another 14 by other pre-employment, voluntary or other screening.

There are also notably more new cases from the Jalan Harapan group, which is related to the Sungai Buloh prison in Selangor.

“All family members participating in the visit must adhere to standard operating procedures at all times,” Ismail said.
