16 Detainees at Mantin Police Station Test Positive for Covid-19

The 16 detainees in the Mantin Police Station cell who tested positive were close contacts of another detainee transferred from Melaka.

SEREMBAN: Sixteen detainees in the Mantin police dungeon in Nilai were confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19.

Nilai District Police Chief Mohd Fazley Ab Rahman said they were close contacts of a detainee who tested positive for the virus after being sent from Sungai Udang Prison in Melaka.

“They will be transferred by the Health Ministry to the Sungai Buloh Prison Crisis Preparedness and Response Center in Selangor under police surveillance,” he said in a statement today.

Fazley said 31 police officers at the Nilai District Police Headquarters, who were also identified as close contacts of the detainees, had been screened and were in quarantine.

He said the building had been disinfected.
