COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 1,472 new cases of Covid-19 at noon today and three deaths.

Half of the new cases come solely from the Teratai cluster, which is linked to the Top Glove factory in Klang, Selangor.

Health Director General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that overall, the number of new cases in the country had reached a “more stable” rate.

This is because most new cases arise from construction sites and factories.

In Selangor’s case, he said 87.3 percent of new cases in the state were only from the Teratai group.

Another 6.2 percent of new cases in the state are attributed to “other examinations,” meaning they were detected through means such as workplace examinations, preoperative exams, and exams after reporting symptoms, among others. In other words, “other screening” refers to hitherto unknown cases.

Main indicators:

  • Active cases: 10,495 ↓ (83 less than the previous day)
  • ICU patients: 120 ↑ (7 more than the previous day, new record)
  • Intubated patients: 44 ↑ (2 more than the previous day)

All three deaths were reported in Sabah. The cumulative number of deaths from Covid-19 for Sabah has reached 212 or 58.4 percent of the national total.
