1,340 Covid-19 cases, 4 deaths

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health has reported 1,340 Covid-19 cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours.

Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,067 recoveries, bringing the total number of discharged to 77,309.

In a statement, he said that with these 1,340 cases, the total number of infections stands at 93,309.

There are 15,563 active cases, of which 116 patients are treated in intensive care and 57 require respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the four deaths mean the death toll has risen to 437.

Among the dead were a foreigner and three Malaysians between the ages of 63 and 78. Two of them died in Sabah and the others in Selangor and Penang.

All three Malaysians had a history of chronic illnesses, although the foreigner had no existing medical conditions.

Selangor continued to record the highest number of cases today with 441 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 284 and Sabah with 196.

Negeri Sembilan and Johor saw an increase of 169 and 156 cases respectively, while Penang reported 30 new infections.

Meanwhile, Labuan reported 30 cases followed by Pahang (12), Perak (10), Kedah (6) Sarawak (3), Terengganu (2), Putrajaya (2), Melaka (1) and Kelantan (1).

Perlis was the only state that did not report any new cases of Covid-19.

Currently, 134 cases were related to prison groups and immigration depots, namely Jalan Harapan, Tembok Gajah, Tembok and Seberang Perai prison groups. Currently, there were only three imported cases.
