1,335 new cases detected with Selangor registering a maximum of 337

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,335 new Covid-19 cases and Selangor recorded the highest number with 337.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country also reported two new deaths, bringing the death toll to 3,882.

Malaysia also discharged 1,069 patients, bringing the number of recoveries to 61,273.

The total number of active cases in the country is now 11,039 cases.

Together, the total number of cases in the country since the outbreak began in January is 72,694 cases.

Currently, 126 people are being treated in intensive care units, and 57 of them require respiratory assistance.

Apart from the 337 cases in Selangor, Negri Sembilan recorded 258 cases followed by Sabah (250), Kuala Lumpur (178), Johor (125), Perak (108), Penang (31), Labuan (21), Kedah (17) , Pahang (four), Melaka (three), Kelantan (two) and Terengganu (one).

Meanwhile, three new clusters have been identified in Negri Sembilan, Sabah and Johor.

Dr. Noor Hisham said that the Ceram group was identified in Seremban involving an index patient (case 65,468) who tested positive on November 30 after showing symptoms.

“Examinations in the workplace detected 170 more positive cases,” he said yesterday.

He said that Pulau Berhala’s group was also detected in Sandakan involving an index patient (case 52,089) who tested positive on November 20 after community tests.

“A total of 208 people were examined until December 6 and 24 positive cases were identified.

“Jalan Tampoi’s group was detected in Johor Baru involving an index patient (case 67,151) who tested positive on December 1 after showing symptoms,” he said, adding that a total of 212 people were tested and 17 tested positive. .
