COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 1,309 new cases of Covid-19 today and almost 1,000 of them were found outside of Sabah, which had been the epicenter of the pandemic during the current third wave.
East Malaysia recorded a total of 325 new cases, while Peninsular Malaysia recorded 984 new infections.
Most of the new cases in Peninsular Malaysia were from Kuala Lumpur (493) and Selangor (238).
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health reported 1,333 new recoveries today.
This brings cumulative recoveries to 52,647 versus cumulative positive cases of 64,485.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement, explained that the increase in Kuala Lumpur was due in large part to clusters at construction sites.
He said that of the 493 new infections in KL, 473 were from construction site groups.

The three deaths put the latest death toll at 357 people. The details of the new deaths are as follows:
Patient 41,169 (Death 355): 64-year-old Malaysian man. He died at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Perak. He had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, and chronic heart disease.
Patient 60,507 (Death 356): 89-year-old Malaysian man. He died at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Negeri Sembilan. He had stomach cancer.
Patient 62,337 (Death 357): 53-year-old woman who is not a citizen. He died at Tawau Hospital, Sabah. He had a history of diabetes.
