PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health has reported 1,212 cases of Covid-19 and three deaths in the last 24 hours.
Chief Health Officer Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,112 recoveries, bringing the total number of discharged to 54,759.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the 1,212 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 65,697.
Meanwhile, the three deaths bring the balance to 360.
Noor Hisham added that Selangor reported the highest number of cases today with 402 cases, followed by Sabah with 326 cases. Negeri Sembilan registered 141 new cases.
Most of these cases came from groups, while many cases were also reported from close contact screenings.
In relation to a related matter, there were a total of 101 cases of groups of detention centers, cells or temporary prison. These were the Sibuga group (65), the Tembok group (23), the PTS Tawau group (8), the Matambai group (3), the Seberang Perai group (1) and the Sandakan prison group (1).
A total of 113 cases were being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 42 of which required respiratory assistance.
Of the three deaths reported today, all were Malaysian. Noor Hisham said it was a 66-year-old man from Kedah, a 58-year-old man from Labuan and a 22-year-old man from Sabah. All had chronic conditions prior to their infections.
Other states with new cases reported today were Kuala Lumpur (119), Penang (60), Johor (54), Perak (43), Kedah (31), Labuan (30). Sarawak and Pahang reported two cases each, while Kelantan and Putrajaya each had one case.
There are currently 10,578 active cases. Today only nine imported cases were reported.
