PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has detected 12 new Covid-19 clusters in the last 24 hours, Director General of Health Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
In a statement, it said 11 of them were workplace groups, while the other involved a high-risk group.
The groups were detected in Terengganu, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Selangor.
Gong Nering’s group is a group of workplaces in Besut, Terengganu, and involves a company in Kampung Gong Nering. The first case tested positive on January 12 through a symptom screening test. A total of 183 people have been tested, of which 26 tested positive.
Jalan Kubur Darau’s group in Besut, Terengganu, involves a high-risk group. The index case tested positive on January 28 through a symptom screening test. The group includes the social contacts of the index case in Jalan Kubur Darau and Kampung Raja, Besut. Of the 42 people tested, 15 tested positive.
Jalan Chester’s group is a task force in Tawau, Sabah, and the index case tested positive on February 2 through a symptom screening test. This group involves a jewelry store at Jalan Chester in Bandar Tawau. So far, 19 people have been tested, of which 10 tested positive.
The Sungai Besi group of construction sites was detected in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, and the index cases tested positive on February 6 through a targeted assessment at a construction site. 113 people were tested, 12 of whom tested positive.
Jalan Bayu Satu’s group is a group of workplaces in Johor Bahru, Johor, and the index cases tested positive on February 6 through a targeted evaluation at a factory in Jalan Bayu Satu, Bandar Seri Alam. So far, 35 people have been tested, and 18 have tested positive.
Jalan Istimewa Tujuh’s group is another group from workplaces in Johor Bahru, Johor. The first case tested positive on February 2 after a symptomatic screening test. The group involves factory workers at Jalan Istimewa 7, Taman Perindustrian Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram. Of the 92 people tested, 29 were positive.
The Jalan Tun Mutalib Cluster is a workplace cluster in Kota Tinggi, Johor. The index case tested positive on January 27 through a screening test before traveling abroad. The group involves factory workers in Jalan Tun Mutalib, Bandar Tenggara. A total of 32 people were examined, of which 6 were positive.
The Gudang Salak Tinggi cluster is a workplace cluster in Sepang, Selangor, and the index cases tested positive on February 4 through a targeted assessment at a company in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Sepang. A total of 455 people have been tested, of which 42 tested positive.
The Industri Kampung Baru cluster is a cluster of workplaces in Petaling, Selangor. The first cases were detected positive on February 6 through a screening at three factories in Topaz Industrial Center, Kampung Baru, Sungai Buloh. So far 450 people have been tested and 167 have tested positive.
The Lingkaran Cyber group is a working group involving Sepang and Petaling districts in Selangor. The index cases tested positive on February 5 through a specific examination at a supermarket in Lingkaran Cyber Point Timur, Cyberjaya. So far, 75 people have been tested, and 24 have been found positive.
The Jalan Banting-Klang Cluster is a workplace cluster in Kuala Langat, Selangor, and the index cases tested positive on February 6 after a selective evaluation at a factory in Jalan Banting-Klang, Telok Panglima Garang Industrial Estate. Of the 287 people tested, 13 tested positive.
The Jalan Kuala Selangor group is a working group in Kuala Selangor, Selangor. The index case tested positive on February 6 after a close contact test. This group includes a school in Kampung Tanjong Karang, Jalan Kuala Selangor-Teluk Intan. A total of 87 people were examined, of which 11 were positive.
Five groups have officially finished today, namely the Rapat, Jalan Sedco, Rambai, Jalan Nikolas and Ria-30 groups. There are now 441 active groups out of 888 registered.
The clusters reporting the most infections today were Industry Serkam (257), Industri Kampung Baru (167) and Mayang Pasir (102) clusters.
