1,196 new cases, triple digits in three states and KL

COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 1,196 new cases of Covid-19 today.

Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Johor recorded more than 100 new infections.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement, also reported that 997 Covid-19 patients have recovered from the virus today.

This brings accumulated cases to 105,096 compared to accumulated recoveries of 84,411.

Main indicators:

Active cases: 20,233 ↑ (198 more than the previous day)

ICU patients: 111 ↑ (Three more than the previous day)

Intubated patients: 50 (unchanged)

Deaths: 1 ↓ (One less than the previous day)

The latest fatality put the death toll at 452, representing a mortality rate of 0.43 percent.

The only death today is Patient 101,762 which is a 71 year old Malaysian man.

He was taken dead to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu. There was no information on whether he had any pre-existing conditions.

Perlis was the only state that did not report any new Covid-19 cases today.

In Selangor, 153 out of 392 new cases were detected through “other examinations”.

According to data from the Selangor Health Department, 31 cases of people with symptoms were detected.

Four were detected after undergoing voluntary screening, three were detected at screening before entering a new job, and three were detected among healthcare workers.

Noor Hisham, in his statement, said that 213 of the 484 Covid-19 clusters are still active.

This is after taking into account that the Kerengge cluster, Alia cluster, and Gemilang cluster were declared terminated.

However, a new cluster was discovered today. the Sedco cluster road it involves the districts of Tawau and Kalabakan in Sabah.

The index case is Patient 92,107 who was discovered through an examination of symptomatic individuals on December 20.

Since then, it had grown into a group of workplaces, and to date, 14 of the 26 people who were screened were found to be infected with the virus.
