COVID-19 | Malaysia has reported 115 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours to noon today, bringing the total to 11,034 cases, while the number of cases that are still active reached 1,011.
Of the 115 cases, 112 are locally acquired cases, while three are imported cases.
Sabah accounts for 98 of the local cases, while other states reported 11 cases related to travel history in Sabah.
This includes a new cluster in Klang, Selangor. Of the 10 cases reported in the state today, six are from the Jalan Apas group recently identified there.
In a statement today, the director general of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, said that the index cases (Case 10782 and Case 10783) are husband and wife who traveled to Tawan and Semporna, Sabah, from 13 to 16 September 2020.
Both reported symptoms of fever, cough, and cold on September 18 and sought medical treatment the next day, and were later referred to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang on September 24.
On September 26, they tested positive for the disease and were admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital. Contact tracing led health officials to detect the six cases reported today, bringing the total in this group to eight cases.
So far, 66 people have been screened in this group, of which two are still awaiting results.
Apart from the Jalan Apas cluster, the other four cases reported in Selangor today they were also detected when they were checked upon returning from Sabah.
Kedah, Malacca, TerengganuY LabuanMeanwhile, each reported a local case.
There are 54 cases that have recovered from the disease and have been discharged today.
No new deaths have been reported, so the death toll remains unchanged from yesterday at 134.
However, there are still eight Covid-19 patients under treatment in intensive care units, of which five require respiratory assistance.
