At a press conference today, Health Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that four new groups have been classified. The total number of active conglomerates is currently 176, of which 47 saw new cases.
Tapak Bina Puteh Lama is the new cluster with the most cases (139). It was a construction site in the Lembah Pantai district of Kuala Lumpur.
Jalan Haruan’s group had 118 cases, mostly foreigners working in a factory. The Health Ministry said that this group involved the Seremban district. From the name, I would suggest that this factory is located at Seremban 2.
Jalan Tuaran’s group had 43 cases. This group involved the Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Tuaran districts in Sabah. The new cases were detected during screening at an unspecified workplace.
Beringin’s group had 37 cases. This group involved two factories in Penang. The affected districts are the Northeast, Southwest, Seberang Perai Selatan and Seberang Perai Tengah.
The index case was diagnosed with Covid-19 on November 19 after complaining of symptoms.
The ministry did not provide figures on the capacity of the country and Sabah to conduct RT-PCR tests and the number of tests carried out yesterday, possibly due to an oversight.
The test figures for the last four weeks are mostly stable, with a number of tests carried out amounting to approximately half the national capacity and a slight overcapacity in Sabah.
