1,103 cases of Covid-19, 392 in KL and 4 deaths

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health has reported 1,103 cases of Covid-19 today with 392 cases in Kuala Lumpur, 288 in Sabah. Four deaths were reported, all in Sabah.

The number of new infections exceeded 1,000 for the fourth day in a row.

Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 821 recoveries, bringing the total number of discharged to 35,606.

At a press conference, Noor Hisham said that the 1,103 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 48,520.

Meanwhile, the four deaths bring the balance to 313.

Kuala Lumpur has the highest number of local cases today with 392 cases, followed by Sabah with 288.

Of the 544 cases from Klang Valley, 484 were from conglomerates, 150 from Selangor and one from Putrajaya. Most of the infections, or 385 cases, came from the Damanlela Construction Site group in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

A total of 139 cases came from groups of prisons at present, mostly from the Tembok group, which affected Perak and Kedah, with 111 cases.

Meanwhile, other prison groups reporting new cases today were Matambai (15), Kepayan Prison (2), Rumah Merah (2), Benteng LD (1) and Sabah’s Sandakan Prison (4), and Sabah Prison. from Seberang Perai (4) from Penang.

The other new cases reported today were in Negeri Sembilan (90), Perak (116), Penang (26), Kedah (10), Labuan (8), Johor (8), Kelantan (7), Terengganu (4), Melaka (1) and Perlis (1).

The four deaths recorded today were all from Sabah, involving three Malaysians and one foreigner. They were between 46 and 73 years old. Three of them suffered from chronic diseases. The total death toll is 313.

There are currently 12,601 active cases, with 102 patients in intensive care, of which 39 require respiratory assistance.

Pahang is the only state that has not registered any new Covid-19 infection today.

The Health Ministry announced that there was only one imported case, from Saudi Arabia, today.
