PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported eleven new cases of Covid-19 today, bringing the total number of cases to 9,317. All but one were imported.
In a statement, Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said eight patients were discharged, bringing the total recovery to 9,038.
This leaves the number of active cases at 154. Eight are in the intensive care unit and six require respiratory assistance.
No deaths were reported, and the death toll stood at 125.
Noor Hisham said there was only one local infection today, with 10 imported cases involving six Malaysians and four foreigners.
Eight of them had returned from India, while each returned from Indonesia and Qatar.
The local infection involved a Malaysian who was detected in the pre-operative examination at Sarawak General Hospital.
Noor Hisham said the ministry had been informed of three positive cases at the Terendak military camp hospital in Melaka, of which two were detected in preoperative examinations and one after showing symptoms.
He said active case finding was underway, with 109 people already identified as close contacts and awaiting test results.
“Close contact selection and activity in the field are ongoing. We will update on the current situation from time to time, ”he said.
