KOTA KINABALU: A total of 1,088,711 out of 1,103,646 normal voters are eligible to vote in Sabah’s 16th state election on Saturday, as 14,935 had voted by mail, the Election Commission (EC) said today.
IT Secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak said voters who received the voter card or who have the voting details can go directly to the polls without having to go through the EC booth to verify the information.
He said that EC had printed the recommended voting times on the card, but that voters who were unable to meet the hours could still go and cast their vote anytime between 7.30am and 5pm.
“Voters who did not receive the card, possibly due to an address change, are encouraged to verify (the voting information) before Election Day,” he said.
Ikmalrudin reminded voters to bring their identity cards and voter card with them to facilitate the verification process.
EC urged all voters to go out and vote on Saturday.
The state election takes place after the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly on July 30.
A total of 447 candidates, including 56 independents, are competing for 73 state seats, including 13 new ones.Named
