COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 1,054 new cases of Covid-19 and eight deaths in a 24-hour period that ends at noon today.
The number of deaths from Covid-19 in Sabah has now exceeded the number of deaths reported in all other regions of the country combined.
Leading indicators in brief:
- Active cases = 10,339 ↑ (204 more than the previous day)
- Intensive care patients = 82 ↓ (12 less than the previous day)
- Intubated patients = 27 ↓ (5 less than the previous day)
The Health Ministry said seven deaths were reported in Sabah while Perak reported one. Sabah’s cumulative death toll stood at 138.
Sabah accounted for 50.9 percent of the country’s total Covid-19 deaths, which stood at 271.
Of the seven victims in Sabah, two were foreigners. The age of the victims ranged between 56 and 83 years, with the average age being 63 years.
The only death reported in Perak involved a 79-year-old citizen. All victims have comorbidities.
Sabah continued to report the highest number of cases (62.6 percent) followed by the Klang Valley region (23.6 percent), which saw an increase in new cases from existing groups.
