PETALING JAYA: A total of 101 people were arrested yesterday for violating the recovery movement control order (RMCO).
Of this number, 86 compounds were issued, while 15 were forwarded.
Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said that among the crimes committed were not wearing face masks (23) and violating the orders for reinforced movement control (24).
“Other crimes committed included the lack of social distancing (19), the lack of equipment or facilities for check-in (13), pub and disco activities (six) and premises that operate after hours (three) .
“Ten illegal immigrants were also arrested,” he said today in a statement.
The arrests were part of 56,758 inspections conducted yesterday by the police Enforcement Operations Task Force.
Ismail Sabri said that Ops Benteng, under the National Task Force which involves the police, the army, the maritime agency and the border control agency, yesterday made 93 arrests.
“The arrests included four ship captains, a suspected smuggler and 88 illegal immigrants. Eight ground vehicles were also seized.
“Meanwhile, 82 barricades were also set up across the country to curb the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said.
Ismail Sabri also announced that between July 24 and yesterday, a total of 30,314 people had returned to Malaysia across international borders.
“Of the total, 9,350 are in mandatory quarantine, while 71 people have been sent to hospitals for treatment. A total of 20,893 have been discharged and allowed to return home, ”he added.
He also said that eight sanitation operations were carried out yesterday, covering two red zones, one yellow zone and four green zones in Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang, Kedah and Malacca.
