PETALING JAYA: The 1 Utama Mall will reopen its doors on Saturday (October 17) after conducting a disinfection that focused on all high-touch surfaces throughout the complex.
A spokesman for 1 Utama said the reopening of the mall had the backing of the Health Ministry.
“Our shopping center remains open during the conditional motion control order (MCO) that was issued until October 27, with a daily opening hours from 10 am to 10 pm
“Some tenants will operate flexible business hours from 11 am to 8 pm every day,” the spokesperson said.
Preventive measures were implemented, including recording the body temperature of workers and clients, as well as the preparation of hand disinfectants.
According to the spokesperson, all tenants and management personnel of the shopping center, including auxiliary police and security forces, have been examined and authorized to work.
“Our team has gone the extra mile to ensure the continued safety of customers and the community at large.
“Our efforts in massive sanitation work are strictly in accordance with the standard operating procedures of the Ministry of Health.
“Our management will continue to strive to provide a safe shopping experience by cleaning 24 hours a day using hospital grade disinfectants and purifying the air through high-efficiency filters and powerful ultraviolet lights,” the spokesperson said.
All shoppers entering the mall must wear their mask and accept the temperature controls.
The spokesperson also advised all buyers to wash their hands and practice physical distancing.
The mall also posted a notice on its Facebook page.
On Oct. 16, the mall said that only a security guard working at Mall 1 Utama was found to have contracted Covid-19, refuting the report by Petaling District Disaster Management Committee Chairman Johary Anuar, that there were 44 security guards at the mall that had been infected.
