Listen everyone. I’m concerned about Madison Bailey’s skincare routine and I’m not the only one. the External banks Star shared how she prepares her skin for bed in a video for Harper’s Bazaar. Since then, she has garnered almost 600 comments with many of them wanting to make some changes and wishing she would trade some hard products for more effective ones. It is important to note that she is only 21 years old, so she has completely flawless skin, not to mention that we all made some skincare mistakes at that age.
At the beginning of the video, Bailey points out that he doesn’t have sensitive skin, so he can use whatever he wants to try. Your skin is likely to change as you get older, but for now, nothing you wear will completely harm your face. But it is also good to prevent future problems and start a healthy skin routine at any age. And I wouldn’t say that her routine is especially healthy now, unfortunately. “That skin will deteriorate so quickly,” says one comment. “OMG, the world of skincare is about to educate you,” says another. In truth, I’m not sure Bailey knows what he got into.
When Bailey pulled out the makeup remover wipes, fans commented that Hyram, a popular skinfluencer on TikTok, is going to have a picnic with this routine because it includes just about everything he and other influencers ask people not to wear. Makeup wipes may not yet harm your skin and may be fine in a pinch like after the gym or when you’re not around soap and water. But when you’re at home, there are much more effective ways to remove all dirt, oil, makeup, and grime. Also, they are terrible for the environment. She could easily switch to micellar water in a reusable cotton round like Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water ($ 6.78 on Amazon). Micellar water is safer for the skin and more effective.
She then skips cleaning all together for some reason and goes straight for a physical scrub filled with hard wash particles. Even if you don’t have sensitive skin, most exfoliants (there are exceptions) are too damaging to the top layer of your skin and can cause even more fine lines, wrinkles, and dryness over time. Worse yet, add a cleaning brush, which can be tough on its own. Instead, you should prepare a chemical scrub that is gentler on the skin but removes dead cells and kills acne-causing bacteria. We love ordinary 10% lactic acid + HA ($ 6.80 at Sephora).
Just when he thought the products were going to get a little softer, Bailey pops an acne mask when I don’t see him having any real acne. However, it is good that you see goodies, instead of using everything on your face. You may have some dark spots from past acne, so a product with niacinamide and vitamin C will be more effective in brightening those areas. We love Peace Out Microneedling Dark Spot Brightening Dots ($ 28 at Sephora). I told you this was stressful!
We are almost to the last step. She says she got the Truly Organic No Worries anti-stress serum from Urban Outfitters, though it no longer appears to be available. I am not familiar with this serum but it seems to be the smoothest part of your routine and will help soothe any redness. “It makes my skin feel very, very soft when I wake up, she says.”
For a pinch of “self-love,” Bailey also uses a rose quartz face roller. Listen: if it feels good, do it. It is a good way to massage the muscles of the face and maybe even get some lymphatic drainage action. Put it in the fridge if you want to untie under the eyes. But it probably won’t do anything for your skin.
The final element in your facial routine is not a moisturizer. No, she skips the moisturizer entirely. Sometimes an oil is sufficient as long as it is hydrating. But she uses a fragrance-containing facial spray, so it’s probably not hydrating enough, either. I recommend a mild moisturizer containing ceramides to help maintain a healthy skin barrier, such as CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin ($ 16.99 at Target).
Finally, Bailey ends her routine with EOS Chamomile Lip Balm ($ 2.96 at Amazon), definitely one of the least troublesome things in her routine. (Sorry!) Again, the star’s skin is perfect and it doesn’t take much for it to shine, as this routine demonstrates. But there are a few simple changes you can make to make sure your skin stays as beautiful.
