Netflix’s “Lucifer” will record the movement Black Lives Matter in an episode of its sixth and final season.
Ildy Modrovich, one of the show’s executive producers, recently shared the news with Entertainment Tonight, explaining that they are doing this to turn on the story of police-centered shows.
“When we were back at the [writers] room, we began to look at the fact that we are a cop show and in what ways we have contributed or not addressed the systemic problems of the police department, “she said. The episode will come in the seventh and final season of the show, which the writers are currently preparing, as the fifth season debuts these first eight episodes on Netflix.
Joe Henderson, another executive on the show, added that there was a “responsibility” to address the movement.
“What we wanted to do was speak to the cultural account that we all go through and, I think, we will go on, and our place in it and our responsibility to say something,” he said.

The few producers discussed how they approach the episode to make sure it is done responsibly.
“We have a lot of voices in the room. We’re a pretty diverse room, so it took a lot longer than most episodes to break down because we talked about everything,” Modrovich said. “A lot of tears have been shed.
