Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli resign from Bel Air Country Club

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have quit their super-exclusive country club in Bel-Air after a massive fight between the members over their guilty pleas in the college admission scandal.

The conflicted couple was suspended from the Bel-Air Country Club after their guilty pleas, but the members were angry that they were not permanently expelled.

The couple have now made the decision to voluntarily withdraw from the club so as not to create any more drama around their time there, TMZ reports.

Giannulli is an avid golfer and Loughlin has also become a fan of the sport.

The two pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit fraud at a Zoom court hearing in May after agreeing to a ‘slap on the wrist’ deal for bribing their daughters at university.

Loughlin was released for only two months in prison, while Giannulli received five months.

Following the guilty plea, the Board of Directors of the Bel-Air Country Club voted unanimously to suspend the couple, but with the expectation that the suspension would be lifted once they served their terms.

But the suspension angered former President Michael Gallagher, who sent the board a scathing letter criticizing the decision to establish “our Club as a place of refuge and comfort for known criminals: damn reputational damage.”

He added: ‘Gentlemen are not criminals, and criminals in turn are not knights. You cannot be a member of good standing and guilty of a serious crime at the same time, you are a non sequitur.

‘Referring to criminals as reputable gentlemen is nothing more than an attempt to legitimize their continued membership. That “this situation” is the result of “your actions outside the Club” can only be considered a failed diversion attempt, as it is completely irrelevant.

‘These guilty pleas to serious crimes are his own taking and reputational damage stems from his continued “membership” affiliation with the Club. Suspension of membership, while the offender is incarcerated, is an illusory sanction and does nothing to address the damage to reputation caused by continued membership.

Gallagher complained about rumors circulating about the board’s decision, including that they did not consider the “white collar” crime a serious crime.

“The council could not be so reckless as to put itself in the position of judging serious crimes on a subjective scale, considering that some are acceptable and others are not,” he said.

Gallagher, who has been a member of the club for 25 years, resigned from the club in his letter. It is unclear whether the resignation will rescind after the couple’s departure.

Before presenting his statements, prosecutor Eric Rosen exposed the facts of the accusation that include an email from Giannulli to his financial adviser in which he admitted having bribed his daughter’s way to college.

He was sent in 2016 after he paid $ 250,000 to take his daughter Isabella to school under the false pretense that she was a stellar T-shirt.

The couple had even posed her on a rowing machine in training gear to take a photo and submit it as part of their request.
