The temporary house is a division of the Archdiocese of Vilnius “Carito”, which has been in operation since the fall of 1999. It is a space for people who do not have a permanent residence but are determined to move towards independent life.
“Probably the most important things for everyone are family and home. Losing one or both shakes the foundation of our lives. And not everyone can cope with challenges or disasters on their own. And then everyone around them becomes extremely important, his desire and opportunity to get closer to his neighbor ”, said D. Nausėdienė, congratulating the participants.
The Temporary House, which is now 22 years old, celebrated its birthday in the renovated premises. Neighbors, volunteers and guests of the Temporary House participated in the celebration. The renovated house was blessed by the Archbishop of Vilnius, Metropolitan Gintaras Grušas.
To remain in this temporary home, the person agrees, together with a social worker, to resolve the difficulties they have encountered in order to return to independent life.
The Temporary House currently employs 5 people and 28 volunteers, and can accommodate up to 76 people at a time.
