He said about 400 objections had been received and that a ban on smoking in apartment buildings and their balconies would take effect in nearly 30 homes on Friday.

“It just came to our attention then. Almost 400 objections reached the Vilnius city municipality. It is really the city administration that has received extra bureaucratic work. So far, 270 have managed to process those requests and formalize that late. or sooner smoking will be banned in those homes.

And from February 5, the first smoking ban will come into effect in 28 apartment buildings in Vilnius, ”said A. Bužinskas.

A period of 2 weeks is allowed after the order is placed. At that time, the home managers have to take care of hanging informational signs, informing the residents.

He said that all solutions can be found in the legislation records.

“Naturally, there are certain informational posters hanging near the house, on the stairs, sent by email. It all depends on the house manager, ”said the deputy director of the Vilnius city municipal administration.

As of February 5, the smoking ban will take effect in 28 apartment buildings in Vilnius. As of that date, the people registered in that house will be able to file complaints from neighbors.

“We are in the position that the best thing is to try to agree with the neighbors on the beauty. Instead of running around with the camera and capturing it. But if so, yes, the neighbors do not reach an agreement, then please take a photo, indicate the name of the person, the address. And that data is sufficient for both us and the police to initiate administrative justice, ”said A. Bužinskas.

A representative of the Vilnius city municipality also answered the question that arises for many: whether photographing a smoking neighbor does not violate the protection of personal data.

He argued that since the issue refers to the registration of administrative offenses, neighbors by doing so cannot be violating that regulation.

A. Bužinskas stated that this prohibition, in the opinion of the Vilnius City Municipality, is excessive.

Violation of this procedure is subject to a first warning and then to a fine of between 20 and 90 euros.
