According to data from the pre-trial investigation, at the end of July of this year the defendant was intoxicated and presented to the Jonava District Police Station for a possible administrative offense.

During an inspection by the policemen, the guy resisted his actions and, taking out a hidden knife behind his back, hit the patrol chief in the neck area. The rapid response officer avoided the fatal stabbing.

According to the investigation, Jonavis admits his guilt only partially and claims that he did not intend to kill the official.

The Penal Code establishes that any person who uses or threatens to use physical violence immediately against a public official or another person who performs functions of the public administration will be sanctioned with public works or a fine or imprisonment of up to three years.

Anyone who has tried to kill for the service of a victim or in the performance of his civil duties is punished with imprisonment of eight to twenty years or life imprisonment.

The criminal case was transferred to the Kaunas Regional Court.
