They turned out to be Cuban citizens and they were allegedly found on the island when their ship sank. It happened 33 days ago, because of what the trio spent on an uninhabited island. They survived because they found coconuts.
Officials did not hide the situation, one of them told the BBC that he had never seen anyone trapped on an uninhabited island for so long.
“We patrolled when something caught my eye. When we landed a bit, I realized that there are people on the island, ”said one of the rescuers.
The helicopter did not have the necessary equipment to evacuate disasters immediately. But the trio were taken to fetch food and water, as well as a radio station to talk to.
The next day, people were taken to a hospital in Florida, but none of the reported serious injuries were reported.
