In the Ignalina district, border guards at the Tverečius Firebreak detained a group of 12 immigrants who had just entered Lithuania illegally from Belarus. Subsequently, nine men and three women with Iraqi passports applied for asylum.

Border guards also identified the place where illegal immigrants crossed the border from Belarus. They broke into the house, apparently to warm up, and probably spent a few minutes in it.

The border guards took the migrants to the Tverečius firebreak. On Tuesday, Iraqis applied for asylum in Lithuania. The border guards of the Migration Division of the Vilnius Border Guard Team of the SBGS have initiated the initial actions of the asylum procedure. The Migration Department, which handles these asylum applications, was informed.
The aliens have been tested for COVID-19. The answers will address the issue of Iraqi accommodation.
The detainees were transferred to special premises for asylum seekers at the Švenčionys border guard.
Due to the illegal crossing of the state border, a pre-trial investigation was launched at the Vilnius Border Guard Team of the SBGS.
