“The litmus test is the situation in the housing market. We see that the housing market reacted as it did during the first quarantine, the number of transactions and sales decreased significantly,” said Ž. Mauricas.

“But during the second quarantine, that fear practically disappeared and even in December a record number of new apartments were bought in Vilnius,” he added.

The economist noted that the number of single house and solar transactions last year was even higher than the previous year.

“Vilnius and Kaunas stand out especially in this context, where you can say that the crisis is not even being felt at all,” he said.

Ž. Maurice also noted that the amount of funds for the purchase of new homes increased last year.

“This is, again, a very unusual situation for a period of crisis,” said an economist at Luminor.
