“One of the complaints that people come to the department in a warm way is that we fill vacancies a lot. But here is a question of gratitude. The Minister may not like it, but it is a legal thing that public sector institutions apply, because the Civil Service is the way the law establishes it. Perhaps it is better to have competitions (ELTA way of filling positions), but it is necessary to wait a long time for competitions, and by means of an official exchange an experienced person can be picked up faster, that’s all good ”O Vėbrienė said to LRT radio on Monday.

According to her, the department has filled 66 positions in half a year.

“It just came to our knowledge then. (…) Recently there was a contest for inspectors from Kaunas, about 20 people applied for it. Yes, others do not come. It is understandable that the salary is not competitive, in big cities it is difficult to compete with our salaries with the private sector ”, said the director of AAD.

“The fact that you want to make it (salary – ELTA) higher, but we are in bondage, because even if I advertised a competition with a higher coefficient, people who have been working here for a long time and have a lower coefficient will be a little disappointed. Then they would go to that competition and still end up getting a vacancy. Everything has to be done gradually, we raise the salaries of the people who are working now and little by little we announce competitions with a higher coefficient “, added O. Vėbrienė .

The Minister of the Environment, Simonas Gentvilas, previously stated that the AAD management team is not formed through competitions, at that time competitions are announced for ordinary inspectors and more than 70 vacancies have been filled.
