According to the director of the State Service for Protected Areas, Albert Stanislovasitis, according to the contract with the contractors, the construction period is 15 months, so the new observation tower in the Nemunas Delta Regional Park should be built for the summer 2022.

Since the location of the future tower is a NATURA 2000 territory, it will not be possible to carry out works here from March 15 to July 30, but preparatory work and production of structures are possible.

The design of the observation tower resembles a large sail, this idea was proposed by the architects of VšĮ Studija 501. From the mouth of the Atmata the main viewpoints open: the river, the Curonian lagoon, the shore of the Curonian Spit on the other side. The sail seems to be spread by the winds that often whip here. The architects have ensured that special metals will be used for the construction due to the harsh climatic conditions.

The tower will not be the highest, because its height is 30 meters, but it will be located in a truly unique place. Visitors to the protected areas will have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with various special and different landscapes, natural values in Nemunas Delta Regional Park and Curonian Spit National Park. From the observation tower you can see a part of Rusnė island, the branch of Nemunas Atmata, Krokų lanka, Ventė ragas, the Curonian lagoon and the Curonian strip with perfectly visible dunes, etc.

Currently there are more than 20 observation towers in protected areas, which are highly visited. The observation towers are designed to see the unique landscapes of our national and regional parks, to admire and learn about the diverse nature of our country. Whether it is the observation tower of the Biržai Regional Park next to the karst lakes, the tower of the Labanoras Regional Park next to the Labanoras forest, or the tallest tower of 36 meters of the Nemunas Loops Regional Park next to the circular Nemunas …

The observation tower of the Delta del Nemunas Regional Park will be the last to be built in the last decade in protected areas. There are no plans to build more observation towers in national and regional parks in the near future.

The construction of the new observation tower will be carried out by the UAB Kavesta. The value of the works is 7,799,929.82 EUR VAT included. The design and construction of the observation tower of the Nemunas Delta Regional Park is carried out in accordance with the project “Protection of landscape values and adaptation to knowledge”, financed by the Structural Funds of the European Union. Regional Development.
