Thomas Heurtel, divorced from Barcelona, could finish the season at the ASVEL club of his native France in Villeurban, according to lequipe.fr.
If a player joins ASVEL, they would not be able to play in the Euroleague, but it is emphasized that this would allow the basketball player to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics.
The decision on the possible transfer of Heurtel to the team is expected to be made in the second half of February, following the FIBA window. The athlete has not played in France since the 2009-2010 season, when he represented Strasbourg IG Club.
This season, Heurtel will no longer be able to play in the Euroleague as the basketball player registration window closed on January 6. It is valid for those players who have already played in the Euroleague this season.
From February 20 to 22, Heurtel will play for the French national team in the qualifying rounds of the European Championship, when the team he represents will face the teams of Montenegro and Great Britain.
The 31-year-old defender, who has represented Barcelona since 2017, recorded an average of 2.9 points and 2.4 assists in 13 minutes in the Euroleague this season.
