The Euroleague report said that a Serbian team that had registered several cases of coronavirus on their team had asked for the meeting to be postponed, and that request was granted.

The Belgrade club has informed the Euroleague that after COVID-19 tests and positive responses, the team will not have 8 eligible players. Therefore, according to the Euroleague regulations, the match will be postponed, announcing a new date later, writes Žalgiris’ press release.

According to Serbian media reports, four COVID-19 cases were identified among Crvena Zvezda, two for players and two for staff members.

Johnny O’Bryant, one of the leaders of the Belgrade team, would have missed Thursday’s meeting. The American was suspended ten days after a conflict with manager Dejan Radonjic during last week’s game against Istanbul’s Anadolu Efes.

The people of Žalgiris will play the next match already on Saturday, when they will meet Kėdainiai club “Nevėžis-Optibet” in the LKL championship, which was beaten by 78:47 on Tuesday. The duel will take place again in Kėdainiai.

At that time, Žalgiris will be back on the Euroleague floor only on February 18, when a field match with Barcelona will be waiting for him, coached by Šarūnas Jasikevičius.
