In the complaint, the prosecution requests that the verdict of the Telšiai District Court on 14 January on the acquittal of eight people be set aside and found guilty of bribery and bribery.

In this case, allegations of bribery and bribery were brought against Saulis Urbonas, former director of the municipal administration of the Telšiai district, his deputy Kęstutis Anglickas, Laima Simanauskien jefe, head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Investments, Gintautas Lukauskas, head of Construction and Urban Development Department, and Juozas, former head of the council.

Three more heads of private companies will be tried for possible bribery of municipal employees.

During the pre-trial investigation carried out by the Special Investigation Service, it was established that municipal officials, being responsible for various municipal procurement procedures, accepted bribes from the owners of the participating companies to create exceptional conditions and favor these companies to win acquisitions.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the court incorrectly indicated the factual circumstances of the criminal facts established in the case, incorrectly evaluated them and did not adequately analyze the data on which the accusation is based.

It is also alleged that the court analyzed the evidence gathered in the case in a biased, selective and distorting manner, did not argue convincingly and logically, and did not substantiate its conclusions.

The complaint also alleges that the court drew a series of inconsistent conclusions, wrongly recognized data collected during criminal intelligence activities as illegally obtained, and did not consider it as evidence.

The criminal case was transferred to the Telšiai District Court in the fall of 2019. Throughout the process, the defendants denied their guilt.
