According to the interlocutor, the bans will come into force already this Friday in 28 apartment buildings in Vilnius.
“Not only did they improve the apartment buildings, but they did it with the help of the municipality. The bans will take effect this Friday at 28 apartment buildings in Vilnius.
We have already received almost four hundred objections from different people who would not want to smoke on their balconies, and we have already issued an order from the director of administration for some 270 apartment buildings, which will take effect in two weeks. The first apartment buildings will start on Friday, ”says A. Bužinskas.
Doubts about effectiveness
When asked if this ban has led to an increase in work and paperwork, the municipal representative assured that there is a risk that the ban will not work.
“The fact that the work has increased is a new function assigned to us, which was adopted by the Seimas, and we are humbly fulfilling our obligations. There is really a lot of work to be done, as each objection must be checked to see if the person who wrote that objection is registered with that place of residence.
Ashtray
If so, then we prepare an order for the director of administration, then we inform the house manager, he has to take care of the information signs, notices, inform the residents, and after two weeks the ban takes effect.
We only see the risk that this work, which ultimately falls on the backs of taxpayers, will not pay much. Whether all those paper shifts will help to quit smoking on the balconies is a big question, ”says A. Bužinskas.
There are sanctions
When asked about the fines that will be imposed if residents ignore the agreement, A. Bužinskas said that a warning is threatened if you violate the first time.
“Naturally, according to the Code of Administrative Offenses, no one will be fined for the first time, a warning or a fine of twenty to ninety euros is foreseen.
Naturally, this ceiling will be reached only in critical cases, when the offense will be repeated, ”says A. Bužinskas.
