Mizar presented to the judges of the CC may become a test for the ruling majority: his true face will appear

“This is a very competent and strong candidate, who I believe will be supported by the majority of the factions and the majority of the politicians in the Seimas,” said Seimas President V. Čmilytė-Nielsen when presenting this candidacy.

But Laurynas Kasčiūnas, the representative of the Union of the Homeland – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) in the Seimas, immediately says that he does not promise to support this candidacy.
“No, I will not support it,” he told LNK News.

Seimas spokesperson V. Čmilytė-Nielsen also says that lawyer V. Mizaras’ contribution to the protection of homosexuals is important to her. He is an LGBT lawyer who defends the rights of sexual minorities.

“The improvement and guarantee of the protection of human rights will never end. In the Constitution, a person has a very significant place,” V. Mizaras, candidate for the post of judge of the Constitutional Court, told LNK.

Some conservatives immediately say that a CC judge would not be suitable for them and they will not vote for this candidacy presented by V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.

“It just came to our knowledge then. I think it would be more appropriate for him to go into politics, participate in the roster of a liberal political force, go to the Seimas. And try to make those worldview principles a reality in this way,” taught the Conservative L. Kasčiūnas on his position.

Eugenijus Gentvilas, the senior of the Liberal Group, said that it must be recognized that there will be disagreements within the ruling majority.

In the fall, when the Conservatives and the two Liberal parties negotiated a coalition agreement, they formulated values, attitudes toward a homogeneous association, and the like for a long time.

And in the conservative group itself, there are almost twice as many liberal politicians as there are conservatives.

“It is necessary to assess human skills and abilities. I also expect it from the members of our faction,” Radvilė Morkūnaitė – Mikulėnienė, the eldest of the TS-LKD faction in Seimas, told LNK News.

The opposition criticizes the change in the TC for too long.

The crickets in the impasse say they don’t feel it. The vote of the judges was secret. The approval of Mizar’s candidacy is considered to have a 50 percent chance. The vote will take place in a few months.
