Snow expected at night: warn where roads are slippery

According to the Hydrometeorological Service, there will be a lot of snow at night. Strong south wind, southwest, on the seashore in the second half of the night – northwest wind.

The lowest air temperature is 2 to 7 degrees below zero, and in the northwestern areas in places up to 9 degrees below zero.

According to data from Tuesday at 4 pm, the most difficult traffic conditions due to the onset of snowfall and wind are in the districts of Marijampolė, Kaunas and Kaišiadorys. Here the sidewalks of the main roads are wet, with ruts of broken snow.

The sidewalks of other main roads in the country are mostly wet or damp, in places, mainly in central and southwestern Lithuania, with wet snow furrows.

There are slippery stretches of road in some places in the districts of Kupiškis, Trakai, Alytus, Vilkaviškis, Jonava, Kėdainiai, Raseiniai Kelmė in Šiauliai Joniškis, Kretinga and Šilut. Regional roads with edges and higher traffic intensity are paved, in places covered with a layer of wet or compressed snow.

The regional roads with less intensity of traffic are slippery and compressed, in some places a layer of loose snow.

Slippery stretches of road are cleaned and spread by road maintenance.

Almost throughout the country, a snowfall that in some places turns into a heavy snowfall or blizzard. There is no rainfall only in eastern Lithuania.

The air temperature ranges from 1 to 6 degrees below zero.
