More than fifty new members of the Seimas, who started working in November last year, have participated quite actively in this process. Most of them managed to spend more than a thousand each in a month and a half. A quarter used the maximum amounts of more than 1,800 euros each. Among the latter is one of the richest parliamentarians Valdemaras Valkiūnas.

Most of the time, the money is spent on cars and souvenirs, according to a report published by the Seimas Ethics and Procedures Commission.

For example, Kasparas Adomaitis, a representative of the Freedom Party in parliament, has already spent 1,347 euros on the operation, maintenance and repair of the vehicle since mid-November, Vytautas Gapšys, a “worker” – 1036, his colleague Aidas Gedvilas – 1367, member of the Liberal Movement Raimundas Lopata – 1062 euros. Conservative Mindaugas Skritulskas’ car maintenance cost 1101 euros and he paid another 556 euros for his insurance.

Other newcomers to the Seimas spent several hundred euros each on souvenirs. That’s where the Social Democrat Vidmantas Kanopa used over 1.1 thousand. “Peasant” Linas Kukuraitis – almost 1 thousand euros. The liberal Andrius Bagdonas – 767, the social democrat Orinta Leiputė – 679, the “peasant” Algirdas Stončaitis – 671 euros.

Jonas Pinskus, a social worker, allocated most of the funds for parliamentary activities to postal goods and services, for which the politician paid 1,266 euros. The “employee” Viktoras Fiodorovas allocated 1,059 euros for the rental of offices, computers and other IT equipment, the “peasant” Giedrius Surplys paid 890 euros to the producers of public information for their services.

Last year, as before, the money allocated for parliamentary activities was not used by the conservative President Gabrielius Landsbergis and the current Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.

The conservative Kristijonas Bartoševičius did not use the parliamentary funds of the new members of Seimas, he only spent 2.49 euros on official telecommunications services.

Seimas members are assigned an average monthly salary of 0.8 for expenses related to their parliamentary activities: office, computer equipment rental, communication services, transportation expenses, car operation, souvenirs, public information services , etc.
