“This is not a request to solve the problem of all disabled people, they can drive like all people, because it will be impossible to control, practically anyone will be able to drive,” said the president of the Commission on the Rights of People with Disabilities of the Seimas .

According to her, it would be sufficient for Lane A to carry special transport for the disabled.

“There are certain institutions that take people with disabilities: children in the morning to schools or adults in nurseries. There are many of them, not many buses in the whole of Vilnius. It is very important for them to go to lane A. And the question is whether lane A will allow someone else to pass, or find a way to equate those buses with regular transport, “said the parliamentarian.

According to the Minister of Transport and Communications, Marius Skuodis, in the first quarter of this year it is planned to submit to the public for consideration the modifications to the Road Traffic Regulations (KET), which will include two proposals to circulate on A lanes. two lanes A – easy public transport and “A plus” – taxis, electric and disabled cars.

According to the minister, the amendments to the KET would be part of a broader reform of the public transport system. It will also aim to align train times with long-distance bus times.

According to M. Skuodis, in the first quarter of this year a memorandum is planned with the guidelines for the adaptation of public transport infrastructure for people with special needs, and a specific plan will appear at the end of the third quarter. Representatives of the private sector, as well as public institutions and agencies, will be invited to sign said memorandum.
