Democrats: Donald Trump’s impeachment court in the Senate to begin next week

The House of Representatives, which last week voted in favor of Trump’s impeachment of the invasion of the United States Capitol by his supporters on January 6, will pass the impeachment on Monday to the Senate.

If Trump is found guilty, he will not be able to run for president in the future.

The House of Representatives had voted in favor of Trump’s impeachment in 2019, but the then president was acquitted in the Senate.

Trump is accused of inciting rebellion when his supporters stormed Congress on January 6, which voted to approve the election results.

The riots devastated Congress, chanting the need to hang Vice President Mike Pence, sought out the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi. Five people died during the riots.

Addressing the crowd before the storm, Trump reiterated his baseless allegations that the election had been “stolen” and called on his supporters to march to the Capitol.

Although Trump said supporters must be drawn to the Capitol “in a peaceful and patriotic manner,” his speech included an incitement to the crowd: “You must show strength and you must be strong.”
