The soloist was born in 1937. on February 1 in Žagarė. 1954-1958 she performed in the Jonas Švedas Lietuva folk song and dance ensemble. 1957-1962 He studied at the LSSR Conservatory.

1960-1971, 1973-1975. and since 1980. LSSR Opera and Ballet Theater, 1971–1973. LSSR Philharmonic, 1975-1976. Soloist of the Kaunas Musical Theater. 1966-1968 internship at the La Scala Theater in Milan, where he sang Monterone in the opera Rigoletto by G. Verdi and the great sage in Mozart’s Idomené. 1967 He sang with Luciano Pavarotti in the performance of Rigoleto. Since 1968 taught at the LSSR Conservatory, 1983. professor.

1988 participated in the activities of the Sąjūdis, but withdrew after the first congress of the Sgresojūdis. After the restoration of Independence, V. Daunoras in 1993. went to the United States, where he was admitted to the Grand Opera in Houston and later to the Metropolitan Opera in New York. On the big stage in New York, he sang for 10 seasons until 2005, when he ended his career due to a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.

2012 returned to Lithuania. The soloist spent the last years of his life in a residence near Vilnius.

According to Jonas Sakalauskas, director of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater, it is difficult to evaluate the legacy of V. Daunor in words, he is one of the most important soloists of the Lithuanian Opera.

“This is the best Lithuanian coach of all time,” said J. Sakalauskas.

“He left many roles, records, many students and educated him because he was also an educator,” he added.
