As the scientist points out in his weekly review, the most colorful autumn period has already begun. The meteorologist urges to take the opportunity to celebrate, because the differently painted trees will drop their leaves quite quickly.

“This period usually lasts about 2 weeks (less often three) and depends on many factors. The shortest period this fall is short, when it is hit by heavy frosts, followed by rain and wind. Well, and for a long time, when the hot dry weather calms down. This year, the golden autumn will also last for about two weeks, as rainy weather is expected next week, and a strong northeast wind is expected in the middle of the week (especially in the western part), ”explains G. Stankūnavičius.

The meteorologist recalls that after the golden stage of autumn begins one of the darkest times of the year and during which there is no possibility of a “great summer”.

Finally, at the end of this period, it will be the turn of late autumn (one of the darkest times of the year), which can last from 3 weeks to a month and a half, and sometimes longer, depending on the atmosphere. Also, with the start of the late autumn stage, there will be no possibility of a short “summer bob”: after the warm and humid air masses of the Atlantic, the sun’s rays will no longer be able to pass through the cloud in post-layers pop-up inverted (even thin) even at noon.

According to the scientist, even several rainy areas will pass through Lithuania this weekend, so when going out, do not forget the raincoat or the umbrella.

“Today an arid valley with a rain zone moves through Lithuania, gradually sliding from the southwest to the northeast. Most of the precipitation will fall on Samogitia and the northern part of Lithuania. Tomorrow night another area of rain will come from the southwest and again most of the rainfall is expected in Samogitia, ”writes G. Stankūnavičius.

There is not much nicer news on Monday: “On Monday, there will be a less busy atmospheric front near eastern Lithuania, which is expected to receive the most rain in this region of Lithuania on Monday and Tuesday.”

According to the meteorologist, next week will be rainy and windy in most of Europe, Lithuania is no exception.

“Cyclonic circulation will prevail in northern and central Europe next week, so much of Europe (including part of the Mediterranean) will be characterized by windy weather during this period. Another important meteorological alteration for next week is the cyclone The Mediterranean, which is expected to start forming over the Tyrrhenian Sea on Monday, strengthens over the Balkans and could reach eastern Poland, Lithuania and Belarus as a mature cyclone on Wednesday.

The southern cyclone discussed above will approach Lithuania on Wednesday, causing rainy and windy weather over almost the entire territory. Therefore, the rainy and moderately warm weather in Lithuania will prevail from today until Thursday of next week. The maximum air temperature will be 10-15 ° C during the day and 5-8 ° C at night. The strongest wind is expected in the middle of the week: as the southern cyclone approaches, wind gusts from the northeast on the coast will reach 14-18 m / s ”, he shares the forecasts.

According to the forecasts of G. Stankūnavičius, it seems that the heat has receded for a long time and, at the end of next week, the cold period will begin, when the temperature can reach only 5 degrees on some days.

“Next Tuesday-Wednesday, a polar anticyclone will form over the Norwegian Sea, leading to cool, dry weather throughout the Scandinavian region at the end of the week, and there is a high probability that cool weather with mild frosts expected to arrive in eastern and northern Lithuania next Sunday.

Starting next Friday, the pressure in Lithuania will increase as the edge of the Scandinavian anticyclone approaches. Next weekend, the maximum air temperature will rise to 5-9 ° C during the day and only 2-6 ° C at night, with possible frost. Next week (from October 19), cool and dry weather is expected in Lithuania, ”writes G. Stankūnavičius.
