The minister stated that he had been aware of the asphalt problem on Upės Street eight years ago.
“The prime minister did not contact me and I did not know eight years ago that the family lived there,” the minister told reporters on Wednesday.
“There is not only the village of Smilgiai, there are the surrounding villages, where we know that the infrastructure has not yet been repaired,” he said.
He also claimed not to have communicated with the prime minister’s wife, Silvia Skvernele.
R. Tamašunienė stressed that he had contacted the Vilnius District Municipality and the Lithuanian Highway Administration about the paving of Upės Street.
“I did not communicate with the government, with the institutions, with the municipality, with the Road Administration,” said the Interior Minister.
She stated that the main problems in the single-member Nemenčinė constituency, where she is elected as a member of the Seimas, are infrastructure.
“First of all, I want to say that I am a unique member of the Seimas and currently I have many thanks, hundreds of thanks, for the work, solving the problems that the community and the people are tackling,” said R. Tamašunienė.
“The main problems in our single-member constituency, as it is a Vilnius district, are infrastructure: sidewalks, sidewalks. There are also many land restitution problems, ”he said.
According to the minister, it is her duty as an elected single member of the Seimas to respond to the problems caused by the population and solve them.
Among other things, R. Tamašunienė said that he had offered the community to request the municipality to pave Upės Street.
“Thanks to my proposal, the community itself applied to the municipality, contributed financially, people vomited and, together with the municipality, carried out asphalt work in one of the sections where the dust was more dusty,” said the minister.
The Prime Minister’s wife, S. Skvernelė, asked the Vilnius district Upės Street community to vote for Interior Minister R. Tamašūnienė in a closed Facebook group for his efforts to pave the road.
A copy of the record of the prime minister’s wife was released on social media on Wednesday.
Tomas Beržinskas, spokesman for Prime Minister S. Skvernelis, did not deny the authenticity of the recording and called it a personal statement.
As can be seen from the copy of the minutes, S. Skvernelė asked to vote for R. Tamašunienė in the single-member constituency, because “this is a person who constantly reminded the employees of the Vilnius district municipality of the problems on our road.
S. Skvernelis was criticized by the opposition when the section of Upės Street leading to the Prime Minister’s house was paved with money allocated by the Government.
The Chief Ethics Commission announced in June this year that it had no data to suggest that the prime minister might have confused public and private interests because government documents did not mention a specific street.
S. Skvernelis always stated that he did not influence the decision of the Vilnius District Municipality to allocate funds for the paving of Upės Street.
R. Tamašunienė was elected in the single-member electoral district of Nemenčinė and is still a candidate there.
