In a 24-minute video, Obama, who supports candidate Joe Biden, described Trump and his Republican supporters a few weeks before the November 3 presidential election as unfairly “inciting fear” from African Americans.
Trump is “morally wrong” because he has taken actions that intimidate voters and “lied” about how minorities can destroy America’s suburbs, he said.
“What the president is doing is once again blatantly false, it is morally wrong and yes, it is racist,” said the 56-year-old wife of former US President Barack Obama.
But he warned that such tactics could work, especially since Americans don’t have the time and energy to lie about checking all the facts online or in the American media for lies.
“Because it’s a difficult time, a confusing time, and (such a time) when people hear these crazy lies and conspiracy theories over and over, they don’t know what to think anymore,” Obama said.
“And one thing the president is doing very, very well, is inciting fear and confusion and spreading lies to win,” he added.
Trump has declared himself president of “public order” and has repeatedly criticized racist injustice as a violent extremist.
Obama’s video addresses multiple voters. Not only did he speak to “dark-skinned people,” but he also urged white Americans to imagine “millions of people who look like me who fought and died and worked as slaves, soldiers, and laborers to build this country.”
Obama’s statements also veered in a personal direction.
As a black woman, like most of them in this country, she did “all she could to live with dignity, service and honesty, and that’s what Americans fear more than the chaos we live in today, and it’s painful.” , He said.
“This difficulty has gripped our hearts,” Obama said.
He also criticized Trump’s “inability” to deal with the coronavirus, his damning remarks against US soldiers as the president’s “losers,” and his commitment to “enriching” himself and his wealthy friends.
Biden, he said, promotes values aimed at helping working families, ending divisions and protecting nature.
“Look into your hearts and consciences and then vote for Joe Biden as if your lives depended on it,” Obama added.
