According to Bolt’s reps, this is the first case of its kind, which has become a lesson for guys who get stuck: They won’t be able to shirk responsibility.
Noting that scooters for rent in the capital have disappeared one after another in recent days or are being dismantled after removing the most expensive parts, Bolt’s team suspected that they could be making a profit by selling them or parts of them online, in social networks or advertising portals.
In one of them, an ad was found with an offer to buy electric scooters several times cheaper than the market price. After contacting the seller, asking for photos, and then inspecting the scooters live, the suspicions were confirmed: the scooters intended to be sold actually belonged to Bolt.
“Bolt and the police came to the meeting with the seller, the people were arrested – after the search, a total of 6 suitable electric scooters were found in his house. A pre-trial investigation has been launched for the detainees, ”says Tomas Bražėnas, Senior Specialist with the Communications Branch of the Vilnius County LSC.
“It is unfortunate that there are still those non-citizens who own or damage other people’s property. We will do our best to clarify similar cases and pass all relevant information to the appropriate authorities.
We will strengthen the protection of electric scooters to minimize such cases. We strive to constantly educate our customers, we ask residents to drive their scooters safely and responsibly, park them in an orderly manner, and not damage other people’s property, ”says Eimantas Balta, Bolt Development Manager at the Baltic States.
