G. Paluckas, who went to vote, accuses R. Karbauskis of lying, but does not rule out the possibility of working together after the elections

G. Paluckas, queuing to vote in Lukiškės square, said that he expects from these elections a government that respects, listens and defends everyone.

“Like everyone else, we hope that the little ones will improve their results less compared to 2016. And the expectations among us are even higher: we want to win these elections. As it will be, we will see, we will count the votes and then we will weigh. But our expectations are high”, said the president of the LSDP, standing in a long line in Lukiškės square.

However, he did not dare to name concrete goals, that this is only the first round, the second will be waiting. The party supposedly wants to win the elections by the number of seats.

I recently saw a movie in which Paksas and his motorcycle took the stage and sang a song some years ago in the elections. Unbelievable, it was fun here, the ice cream fell from the helicopters.

He shared the opinion of other parties that the electoral campaign was passive: “Yes, whatever the legal framework we have, we have it. I recently saw a video where Rolandas Paksas got on stage with a motorcycle and sang a song some years ago in the elections. Unbelievable, it was fun here, the ice cream fell from the helicopters. But when we arranged ourselves in this way so that not even the party insignia could be put on when going to the elections, we bent the stick hard. Here it is, I say self-critically, the fault in the first place of the traditional parties, believing that in this way we will protect or defend the political system from new, new, small and fragmented parties.

Now we have an electoral campaign in which we are all absolutely equal, I don’t know how the people choose. Anyone with more money can order commercials on television, showing all their colors there. But it is already a distortion, it is detrimental to the democratic electoral system ”.

Expect a center-left coalition

G. Paluckas is also cautious about the possible future ruling coalition, as he does not know what will happen in the Seimas. And the ratings published before the election do not convince him.

“You will see the real result of the socdems, as was the case in the municipal elections, in the European elections, when we have a coefficient twice, I look at those indices as horoscopes. But if there will be at least one in three liberals, if there will be “jobs” or if there will be “Poles”, all these things are very important.

And we, I have said many times, our main duty as a left party is to seek to form a center-left coalition. If for some reason it is not possible to do so, then the president offers proposals, some opportunities, preconditions to form a different coalition, ”said the LSDP leader.

I look at those ratings as horoscopes.

He does not rule out opportunities to work with a particular party, including the Union of Greens and Peasants: “The voters reject or do not reject. How they distribute mandates, then we look. If we look for the center-left, then the one who identifies as a left-wing party is candidate of that coalition, some formation. But if they don’t happen, voters don’t decide that way, then you look at what you can shape, you look at the provisions of the program, the principles of what is maintained, what is not maintained.

G. Paluckas said that he would not evaluate the statements of the President of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, Ramūnas Karbauskis, that those who vote for the Social Democrats also vote for the Conservatives.

“His very interesting migration of attitudes and knowledge, that gift of clairvoyance before the elections is impressive, I don’t know if he will lose it after the elections. (…) It is easier for me to find places where he did not lie than to remember where he lied. That is why he is telling it all now, it is probably about the elections and the loss of confidence in the “peasants”, trying to stop people fleeing from them. I don’t know if it will have an effect, I think it will have a negative effect, because whoever lies does not deserve trust. “

“Everything can be,” responded G. Paluckas to a specific question about the possibility of a coalition with “peasants.” – If a person lies, they have the courage and conscience to apologize later. I understand the electoral campaign, war as war, measures, points, blame, but after the elections you have to find the strength to apologize. Not me, but all footballers. “

The very interesting migration of attitudes and knowledge of R. Karbauskis is impressive, that gift of clairvoyance before the elections is impressive, I don’t know if he will lose it after the elections.

G. Paluckas also recalled that R. Karbaskis never talks about the future, only about the past, but seems to give others the opportunity to talk about the future.

The first round of the Seimas elections will take place on Sunday, October 11. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s early voting is different: it started on Monday and will last for four days, more polling stations, more are installed outside.

For fear of large flows of people, early voting is organized in Vilnius not only in the municipal building on Konstitucijos avenue, but in three other places: A. Sakharov Square, Saulėtekio al. 26 and Lukiškės square.
