Three basketball players infected with coronavirus will be on the Moscow region’s Chimki team, which will meet Kaunas “Žalgiris” next week, the club announced.
Moscow Chimki Region / Schedule
According to Chimki, the coronavirus has been identified in Jordan Mickey, Jan Tim and Yevgeny Voronov.
Mickey felt no symptoms, and Timma and Voronov felt minimal symptoms of illness. The players are isolated and supervised by doctors.
The three basketball players played a match against Athens’ Panathinaikos on Friday.
Chimki, coached by Rimas Kurtinaitis, will face Kaunas “Žalgiris” at home in the Euroleague game next Friday.
The tests took place yesterday, October 3, in the usual way before the United League game. Tomorrow, the Russian club VTB will play a match against Kalev Tallinn in their United League.
Kurtinaitis is assisted in the Chimki team by four more Lithuanians: his son Giedrius, as well as Aurimas Jasilionis, Robertas Kuncaitis and Evaldas Kandratavičius.
The Moscow club is also struggling with injuries. In the meeting with the Athens team, Chimki dealt with only nine basketball players, as Alexei Švedas, Greg Monroe and Stefan Jovičius were not injured by the team, and Errick McCollum, who was bought just before the start of the season , is still in the United States.
Coronavirus cases in Euroleague teams will not be considered a reason why a duel should not occur. If one or more COVID-19 cases are detected among team players, coaches or staff members, these individuals must isolate themselves, but the remaining team must participate in the match according to the Euroleague schedule.
The club must register at least 8 players for the meeting to take place. If that number cannot be collected, then a 0:20 technical loss would be recorded for the team.
