“The leader of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, A. Arutiunian, was severely beaten by the Azerbaijani army,” he said.

According to Gadjiev, Arutiunian was “in the bunker” during the attack.

Armenia immediately denied this information. “Azerbaijani representatives are actively spreading information today that President A. Arutiunian is injured. This is not true,” said a statement from the General Information Center of the Armenian government, which said Vagram Pogosyan, spokesman for the leader of Nagorno-Karabakh. .

The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh became complicated on September 27, with clashes in the disputed area. Military state imposed on Azerbaijan and Armenia, announced the mobilization. Both parties report deaths and injuries, including civilians. Azerbaijan claims to have occupied several villages and strategic highlands of Karabakh. Yerevan denies this and reports that shots are also being fired at Armenian territory.

The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh began in February 1988, when the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenian Autonomous Region declared its withdrawal from the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic. In September 1991, the establishment of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was announced at the Stepanakert Autonomous Administrative Center. As a result of the military conflict, Azerbaijan lost control of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Negotiations for a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem have been under way since 1992, but have so far failed.
